about

Lady Ann started deejaying and singing in Jamaica in 1978. Her biggest tunes and albums date from the late 1970s/early 1980s era, including the "Vanity" album in 1980 (GG's) and "Informer" one a year later (produced by Joe Gibbs). After two obscure LPs in 82 and 83, she kept on recording for the likes of Jah Thomas, Sly Dunbar & Robbie Shakespeare, Junjo, Bunny Lee, Jah Life and Shocking Vibes among others. Many years later, in 2008 she released a new album, "Bad Gyal Inna Dance (JumpUp! Records), and got her vocals from the 1981 "Informer" hit sampled by Alborosie for a rework which put Lady Ann back on the main reggae map. "Upfront" is her first solo recording with French producer Grant Phabao, a truly great reggae single in the vein of Althea & Donna's "Uptown Ranking". Part of this summer's soundtrack for sure!
