Hot on the heels of the first season of 15 episodes of Paris DJs & Le T-shirt Français "Wearplay" series, combining clothing, music and graphic design, we're already back with the first episode of the second season! While we won't be able to release a new episode every day of the week this time, we've tried our best to add a new wow factor to our concept. Paris DJs co-founder Loik cooked a hypnotic mix of deep & funky tunes from 1980s Africa, a perfect summer selection, destined to grow on you after repeated listening. Paris DJs' in-house sound engineer Grant Phabao then carefully mastered the mix, while poster artist Ben Hito draw an illustration inspired by the theme and music. Then Clément, the main man behind Le T-shirt Français, printed it on a cotton-brushed, made in France T-shirt of his own production. This mix is available as a free download in compressed MP3 format on Paris DJs' podcast, or as a high-quality audio file on Bandcamp, through a unique download code printed on the back of the Wearplay T-shirt.

Last week's heat wave had us think : when it's that hot, it's high time to get on the groovy train and catch the "Highlife Express"! Whether people call it simply Highlife or Frimpong style, with a pinch of Afrosynth, funky, digital and cosmic vibes (check the second part of the last song!), this is a highly addictive sound. Acting like a soul massage for the heart, it's purely designed to make you feel good. We're proud to share with you these good vibes, through a selection of 80's vinyl mainly from Ghana, supposed to take you on a deep and groovy ride...

Dans la foulée de la première saison de 15 épisodes de la série "Wearplay" de Paris DJs et Le T-shirt Français, combinant prêt-à-porter, musique et graphisme, nous sommes déjà de retour avec le premier épisode de la deuxième saison! Si nous ne publierons pas cette fois un nouvel épisode chaque jour de la semaine, nous avons essayé de trouver une nouvelle idée étonnante qui fonctionnerait avec notre concept. Loik, co-fondateur de Paris DJs, a préparé un mix hypnotique de morceaux deep & funky africains des années 80, une sélection parfaite pour l'été, dont vous découvrirez toutes les merveilles cachées à force d'écoutes répétées. Grant Phabao, l'ingénieur du son maison de Paris DJs a ensuite masterisé avec précaution le mix, tandis que l'affichiste Ben Hito dessinait de son côté un visuel inspiré par la thématique et la musique. Clément, le principal activiste derrière Le T-shirt Français, a ensuite imprimé ce visuel sur un T-shirt coton brossé, fabriqué en France, issu de sa propre production. Ce mix est disponible en téléchargement gratuit au format compressé MP3 à travers le podcast de Paris DJs (au début de ce billet), ou en fichier audio haute définition sur bandcamp, par le biais d'un code unique de téléchargement, imprimé au dos du T-shirt Wearplay.

Avec la canicule la semaine dernière, nous nous sommes dit : quand il fait aussi chaud que ça, il est grand temps de monter dans le "groovy train" et d'attraper le "Highlife Express"!
Quel que soit le nom que les gens lui donnent, tout simplement "Highlife", ou "Frimpong Style", avec une pincée de synthés afro, de vibes funky, digitales et cosmiques (écoutez la seconde partie de la dernière chanson de ce mix!), ce son est des plus addictifs. Agissant comme un massage spirituel pour le coeur, il est purement conçu pour votre bien-être. Nous sommes plutôt fiers de partager avec vous ces "good vibes", à travers une sélection de vinyles des années 80 (principalement du Ghana), qui devraient vous emmener dans un trip "deep & funky"...
