"Rise Of The Troubadour Warriors" truly is one of Paris DJs' more loveable projects. It's one of the most accomplished of the "Tropical Grooves & Afrofunk International" CD/digital compilations. It's a magnificent piece of visual art, one of the best-ever works from French illustrator Ben Hito. The poster version sold out quite fast, so we were quite excited to see what Ben Hito would come up with for its T-shirt variation. We haven't been deceived, it's just gorgeous and we're very proud to finally release it as the 8th EP in our "Wearplay" series combining clothing, design and music.

Music? Yes! Every "Wearplay EP" features 4 tracks hand-picked by the Paris DJs crew, with a download code printed on the back of the T-shirt itself. In this new EP we've got "Ymoja", a monster tune from the Grant Phabao Afrofunk Arkestra, with heavy heavy Afrofunk breaks and smashing horns slabs; the catchy "A Beautiful Days" in its bubbling psychedelic funk Grant Phabao dressing, maybe the poppiest song American MC RacecaR ever sung; "Sing Power To The People", a soulful roots reggae counter-anthem from French producer Grant Phabao & Jamaican singer Carlton Livingston; and "Talking & Singing" which unites together the always amazing Franco-Cameroonian singer & actress Sandra Nkaké, French composer/singer/flute player Jî Drû and hard-working Parisian producer Grant Phabao in an essential piece of Afro-Funk, blending the Norman Whitefield psychedelic Soul style of The Temptations with African percussion, heavy syncopation, and an irresistible Funk groove.

"Rise Of The Troubadour Warriors" est vraiment l'un des projets plus adorables de Paris DJs. C'est l'une des compilations CD les plus abouties de la série "Tropical Grooves & Afrofunk International". C'est aussi une une oeuvre d'art visuellement magnifique, une des plus belles réalisations de l'affichiste français Ben Hito. La version poster s'est écoulée assez rapidement, c'est pourquoi nous étions plutôt excités de voir ce que Ben Hito allait nous sortir comme variante pour la version T-shirt. Nous n'avons pas été déçus, le résultat est majestueux et nous sommes très fiers de le publier en tant que 8ème épisode de notre série "Wearplay" combinant vêtements, design et musique.

Musique? Oui! Chaque "Wearplay EP" rassemble 4 morceaux choisis un par un par l'équipe de Paris DJs, avec un code de téléchargement imprimé au dos du T-shirt lui-même. Dans ce nouvel EP nous avons "Ymoja", un bon track qui fracasse du Grant Phabao Afrofunk Arkestra, avec des breaks afrofunk bien massifs et des cuivres pétaradants; l'entraînant "A Beautiful Days" dans son habit de funk psychédélique cousu main par Grant Phabao, peut-être la chanson la plus pop que le MC américain RacecaR ait enregistré à ce jour; "Sing Power To The People", un contre-hymne reggae roots du chanteur Jamaïquain Carlton Livingston; et "Talking & Singing" qui réunit la toujours stupéfiante chanteuse et actrice franco-camerounaise Sandra Nkaké, le compositeur/chanteur/flûtiste Ji Drû, autour d'un morceau Afrofunk essentiel, qui mélange le style de la soul psychédélique des Temptations (arrangés par Norman Whitefield) avec des percussions africaines, des rythmes des plus syncopés, et un groove funk irrésistible.

The music industry is evolving and Paris DJs with it.

Five years ago we started putting out digital releases, which helped us stay afloat for a bit, but soon digital sales declined, replaced by streaming, a true non-business for independent record companies such as ours.

The vinyl resurgence led us to launch crowdfunding campaigns to press records. We managed to raise money five times in a row, alas record stores are a thing of the past, and direct-to-fan sales haven't taken off. Distributors have been knocking at the door intensely, but with no financial solutions.

In our quest for innovative ways to put out quality music, we wanted to prove ourselves capable of making great products that people would want to use, again and again.
Original, creative, but satisfying products. That's how we came up with the idea of the "Paris DJs Wearplay", a clothing line of "music that you wear", with :

- dashing visuals from French illustrator Ben Hito (www.benhito.com)
- stylish textile digital or screen printing by Anarres in Paris (www.anarres.fr)
- high-end Made in France T-shirts and sweatshirts by Le T-shirt Français (www.letshirtfrancais.fr)
- vintage 1970's sound with Grant Phabao's unsurpassed audio production and mastering skills (www.grantphabao.com)
- and of course, top-of-the-class artistic direction from Djouls and Loik Dury at Paris DJs (www.parisdjs.com)

Just like airplay for radio in the 20th century, the more people will wear our clothes, the more wearplay they'll get.

L'industrie de la musique évolue et Paris DJs aussi.

Il y a cinq ans nous avons commencé à publier des singles, albums et compilations au format digital, ce qui nous a aidé a garder la tête hors de l'eau pendant un petit moment. Mais les ventes de téléchargements ont rapidement décliné, remplacées par le streaming, un véritable non-business pour des maisons de disques indépendantes telles que la nôtre.

Le retour du vinyle nous a conduit à lancer des campagnes de financement participatif pour presser nos disques. Nous avons réussi à lever de l'argent 5 fois de suite, maheureusement les magasins de disques sont une relique du passé, et les ventes direct-to-fan n'ont jamais décollé. Les distributeurs sont venus taper à notre porte, mais dénués de solutions financières.

En permanence à la recherche de solutions innovantes pour sortir de la musique de qualité, nous voulions faire preuve de notre capacité à fabriquer des produits exceptionnels que les gens voudraient utiliser, encore et encore. Des produits originaux, créatifs et satisfaisants. C'est ainsi que nous est venue l'idée du "Paris DJs Wearplay", une ligne de vêtements de "music that you wear" (musique que vous portez), avec :

- des visuels fringuants de l'affichiste Français Ben Hito (www.benhito.com)
- une impression textile en numérique Haute Définition ou en sérigraphie par l'atelier Anarres à Paris (www.anarres.fr)
- des T-shirts et sweatshirts haut de gamme, fabriqués en France par Le T-shirt Français (www.letshirtfrancais.fr)
- un son "vintage 1970s" grâce aux talents de production et de mastering inégalés de Grant Phabao (www.grantphabao.com)
