Too Rude 04:25

about

Jamaican singer Carlton Livingston woke up one morning 'in a bad mood, wanting some lovin' to be soothed' and started writing this catchy Dancehall Soca tune, 'Too Rude', produced in Paris by French multi-instrumentalist Grant Phabao with an old school early eighties vibe, and illustrated with sunny colors by French poster artist Ben Hito. This is one for whining your bodys together to the rhythm of the Soca, bringing together influences from the South Carribean (Trinidad & Tobago) up to the North (Jamaica)!

A veteran Rub-A-Dub singer, Carlton Livingston's career started in Jamaica in the late 70s. It was The Lone Ranger who introduced him to Clive Hunt who produced the massive hit 'Rumours' (on the Dynamite label), re-voiced in 1998 by Bobby Digital as a combination with Grammy Award winner Shabba Ranks. He went on to record for many producer such as Sly & Robbie, Jah Life or the legendary Coxsone Dodd's Studio One label. Other sizeable hits include 'Troddin' through the Jungle', '100 Lb of Collie Weed', 'Itch it up Operator' or 'Please Mr. DJ'. Nowadays Carlton lives in the US where he keeps recording and performing for his worldwide fans.

After storming the clubs with this 'Tub' French Touch house hit on the Pro-Zak Trax label in the late 90s, French producer Grant Phabao went on his own way and launched his own T.I.M.E.C. label, now operating under the Paris DJs banner. He's the sound man behind the label, mastering all the mixes for the podcasts while cooking new singles or albums every month! Praised as a genius by Craig Charles on his weekly Soul & Funk show on BBC 6, Grant Phabao is currently preparing the first album of his Afrofunk Arkestra….

Every week the Paris DJs label tries to put out a new single, album or compilation, and at least every two months one featuring the stellar voice of Carlton Livingston, hailed as one of the great singers/songwriters of the dancehall scene. This new addition to an ongoing series is beginning to hint at an upcoming second album with Grant Phabao after the 'Bridge Of Life' one released April 2012...
